Today, Good Friday, I’m planting a grapevine at the foot of the old wooden cross in my prayer garden. (This is not a metaphor. I’m really planting a vine at the foot of the cross.) I do this in remembrance of all that my Lord has done for me, for you and for our world. I do this to help me grasp the significance of his wonderful works and his many acts of fateful love.
I’ve never had much of a green thumb so it is my fervent prayer that God will bless this vine, in spite of my lack of gardening skills. That it will grow and be fruitful for years to come. That it will be a daily reminder for me to remain in Christ so that I may produce much fruit and proved to be his disciple.
