“I ask for grace to let myself be enfolded by the Spirit.”
This quote is from Sacred Space, an Advent Prayer guide I’m praying though in remembrance of Christ’s coming to earth. As I meditate on this line I’m challenged to let the Spirit probe into my hidden life shedding light on sins I prefer not to acknowledge. Self-centeredness, pride, judgmental attitudes come to the surface and I’m convicted of how these impact my life, of how they prevent me from living the life of service Christ called me to live.
I know I don’t have the strength, courage, conviction or whatever it takes to turn from these selfish tendencies. However, I don’t have to surrender to them with a ‘that’s just the way I am’ attitude either. Instead, I ask for the grace to let myself be enfolded by the Spirit.
